CAROLINA TROYER FREY

Carolina Troyer Frey was born in McLean county, Illinois, February 28, 1853. She spent her childhood days near Carlock and was united in marriage to Christian Frey, December 31, 1872. To this union ten children were born, six of these have preceded her to the other world; five of the children having died in infancy, another daughter, Mrs. Jesse Rehard passed away in Montana in 1917. Those remaining are George of Pitzer, Harry of Earlham, Jesse and Mrs. Fred Lentz of Arcadia, California.

In the year 1896, Mr. and Mrs. Frey and family moved to Iowa and have resided in and near Earlham since. Mr. Frey preceded her in death August 22, 1933. This mother was a life long follower of the true God. While in Illinois she was a member of the Menonite faith. After coming to Iowa, joined the Methodist church.

Grandma Frey, as she was called by so many, was a kind and loving mother, a thoughtful neighbor and a true friend.

After an illness of two weeks she passed away January 18, 1937 at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 18 days at the home of her son, Harry with whom she has lived the past seven years.

Those who mourn her passing are her four children, thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 20th at 2 o'clock at the Earlham Methodist church.
