BESSIE YOUNG LITTLE, Corning

Bessie Laurel Young Little, 95, of Corning died March 5, 2007, at the Lenox Care Center.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 7, at Oakhill Cemetery in Corning.

Bessie Little was born Oct. 8, 1911, to Benjamin and Belle (Westlake) Hardisty of Carbon, where she grew up and attended grade school. Following her graduation from Corning High School, she furthered her education at UNI Teacher’s College and then taught country school. Bessie also taught at Villisca and St. Charles. On August 16, 1933, she was united in marriage to Jack Young. Following Jack’s death and her retirement from teaching, she married Grover Little on Jan. 4, 1983. They resided in rural Winterset until they moved to West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation. In March 2003, Bessie moved to the Lenox Care Center.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and two sisters, Helen Vogel and Dorothy O’Riley.

She is survived by two nephews, Don Vogel of Corning and Jim O’Riley of Pleasant Hill; and a niece, Etta Mae Murphy of Shenandoah.

Memorial contributions may be given in her name.
