THOMAS C. DOAK

Thomas C. Doak, former Madison county resident, died Saturday, July 23rd at the University hospitals in Iowa City, after an extended illness. Mr. Doak had been living in Osceola, for the past twenty-seven years.

Mr. Doak, a son of William and Sarah McDaniels Doak was born in Madison county, September 3, 1883, and lived in this community for many years. He was married to Anna Peterson, February 27, 1914. She died a number of years ago, and he married Alma Linebarger, September 13, 1947.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blakely of Osceola, and six grandchildren, Judy, Gary and Patricia Blakely, and Vickie Sue, Steven and Suzette Engleman; he also leaves two stepsons, Cleman and Lloyd Engleman.

Funeral services were held at the Webster Funeral home in Osceola last Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. Azel Smith of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Forest Lawn cemetery, in Osceola.

Thomas Clarence Doak, son of William and Sarah McDaniels Doak, was born in Madison county, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1883 and departed this life at Iowa City, Iowa, July 23, 1955, age 71 years, 10 months and 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Anna Peterson, Feb. 27, 1914. To this union one daughter was born. Anna passed away in 1945. On September 13, 1947 he was united in marriage to Alma Linebarger.

Tom has resided in Clarke county for the past 27 years and has followed the vocation of farming and truck farming throughout his life.

He accepted Christ and united with the United Brethren church in Madison county several years ago.

Tom was always happiest when he was doing something for his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and were a great source of comfort to him.

He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife Alma of Osceola; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blakely of Osceola; two step-sons and their wives, Climan and wife Nadene and Lloyd and wife Dorothy Engelmann of Cape Giradeau, Mo.; six grandchildren: Judy Ann, Gary Lee, and Patricia Sue Blakely of Osceola and Vicki Sue, Steven Doyle and Suzette Arlane Engelmann of Cape Giradeau, Mo. Besides these there are nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

He was preceded by his father, mother, wife Anna, five brothers and three sisters.

Service was held at Webster Funeral home Tuesday, July 26, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Azel L. Smith presided. Burial at Osceola.
