Perry F. James, a former resident of St. Charles, died July 14 at Long Beach, Calif., where he had lived in recent years, according to word received here this week.
Mr. James was a son of Omar and Sarah Lathrum James, and was born Aug. 8, 1881, near Hanley. He graduated from the St. Charles high school and taught school for several years. As a young man he married Cora Leggett of Truro.
His active career included several years as rural mail carrier at St. Charles, teaching school at Truro and operating a barber shop at Ft. Des Moines. He was living at Ft. Des Moines at the time of the death of his wife, after which he moved to Long Beach. He had retired about three years ago after having suffered a stroke.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; a sister, Mrs. Leah Wheeler of Riverside, Calif.; a nephew and two nieces.
Funeral services were held at Long Beach.
