Frankie Young Thomson was born May 14, 1870 in Winterset, Iowa. She was the youngest of seven children born to George W. and Sarah Young. She passed away July 7, 1966, shortly after her 96th birthday.

Her school years were spent in Holliwell School and Winterset high school. She worked briefly in the county recorder’s office in Winterset before moving to the Earlham community where, with the exception of about four years, she spent the remainder of her life until 1960, when she moved to Des Moines. She had recently returned to live in Maple Lin Manor.

Her early years in the community were spent teaching at the Thomas school house. Later she entered the dressmaking business in Earlham.

In 1896 she married Hugh Mark Thomson, who preceded her in death in 1934.

She was an active member of the community and the Presbyterian church, which she joined in 1901, until the last few years when failing health kept her confined to her home a great deal of the time.

Mrs. Thomson is survived by her three children, Mark L. Thomson of Earlham, Jeanie Alice of Des Moines, and Mrs. Florence Ruby Peery of Chicago.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomson were held on Saturday, July 9, at 11:00 a.m. at the Earlham Presbyterian church with the Rev. Dean R. Redshaw in charge. Music was provided by Frank Junkin, soloist; and Mrs. Fred Fry, organist. Casket bearers were Earl Anker, Gale Marston, Graham Godby, George Radakovich, Sheldon Strong and Russell Ralston. Interment was at the Earlham cemetery.
