MISS CHESTNUTWOOD DIES

DeSoto Special. April 5, 1933--

Miss Barbara Chestnutwood died Monday night at her home northwest of town after a few weeks of extreme suffering caused by a fall which fractured her hip. Her entire life of eighty-one years was spent in the home in which she passed away. Her funeral was held in that home conducted byt the pastor of the DeSoto M. E. church of which she had been a life long member. Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Benfield, M. W. Anderson and Mrs. Laurence Riley sang a number of beautiful hymns. The burial took place in the family lot in the Ellis burying ground northwest of DeSoto. Miss Chestnutwood was a member of one of our old pioneer families, six of whom are still living. Three brothers and three sisters, L. W. Chestnutwood, Jacob Chestnutwood, S. S. Chestnutwood, Mrs. Hannah Harper, Mrs. Catherine Conger, all of this community, and Mrs. Harriett Freisner of Rockwell City.
