Lucy Stone Anderson was born on a farm near what was to be the future town of Truro, November 27, 1858; departed this life at Truro, Saturday evening, May 23, aged 72 years, 5 months and 26 days.

On February 6, 1884, she was united in marriage to John W. Minard and to this union were born three children, Ralph D. Minard, Clyde A. Minard and Mrs. Lois C. Husted all of Truro, who with her husband survive to mourn her loss. Other near surviving relatives are three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Clifton of Peru, Iowa, Mrs. Mamie Hagan of Des Moines, Iowa, and Miss Mattie Anderson of Salem, Iowa; three grandchildren, Verna Husted, John Minard and Doris Husted, all of Truro; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by per parents, two sisters and one brother.

All her life was spent in the vicinity of Truro. Born on a farm about two miles northeast of the present site of Truro, she lived with her husband on another farm three and one-half miles from town for thirty-eight years and it was here that her children were born and grew to maturity. In the spring of 1922, she with her husband removed to Truro, where she had resided for the last nine years. For many years, frail in health, her interests and activities centered largely in her home and family and it is from them that she will be most sorely missed. To have created a home is the greatest thing that can be said of any woman. She had many friends, especially in her younger days when her health was better, and she was a woman of sound practical wisdom and ability.

While yet a girl, she became a member of the Ohio Methodist church which formerly stood about two miles northeast of Truro, and she remained a faithful member until the building was torn down and moved away. Her membership was then transferred to the Truro M. E. church where it remained until her death. She was a patient sufferer in her last illness and she entered courageously upon that last great adventure of the human soul. Now she rests at peace with God.

Funeral services for Mrs. Minard were held at the home Monday afternoon, May 25th, and burial was made in the New Virginia cemetery.
