May 1923JAMES L. FRY
James L. Fry, son of Elisha and Mary Fry was born in Monogahela County, West Virginia on May 17, 1862. In the year 1869 the family moved to Iowa locating on a farm three miles north of Earlham, so that the greater part of his life has been spent in or near Earlham.
On November 29, 1885 he established a home of his own, Savannah M. Stanley joining him in this home and into this home came six children, four boys and two daughters. Hazel, the oldest child left this home for the Heavenly Home in December 1915.
James Fry was primarily a man of home. In his home, that inner circle, he loved his own and sought the best for them to the end. Unsuspected depths of hidden but sincere and steadfast love were his. He gave his love and service freely for those whom he leaves behind. He also bore a tender memory of those whom he had lost and whom he has now found again.
He leaves his faithful wife and companion, four sons, Seth Fry of Minitare, Neb., Willard of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Horace and Bernard of Earlham and one daughter, Mary also of Earlham. Also four grandchildren, his aged father and step-mother, three sisters, two brothers and two half-brothers, besides many other relatives and friends.
Note: Burial was in the Earlham Cemetery.
