Thursday, March 28, 1934Death of MRS. JULIA ROGAN
Mrs. Julia Rogan, well known resident of Madison county died at her home in Douglas township, Sunday, April 1st, 1934. She had been in poor health for some time, and was 81 years of age.
Mrs. Rogan was the former Julia Welch, daughter of James and Mary Welch and was born March 23, 1853, at Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. She came to Iowa and here was married to James Rogan, December 26, 1875. They settled on a farm in the Stringtown neighborhood, and this place has since been her home.
Her husband died in March 1915 and the sons and daughters surviving her are Charles C. Rogan, James Rogan, Waldron Rogan, Jessie Perkins, Elizabeth R. Perry, and Alice M. Rogan, all of whom were with her, during her last illness.
The Rev. Peter McStay conducted her funeral services at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Tuesday morning, April 3rd, and burial was in the Stringtown cemetery.
