JENNIE BELLE ROARK

Jennie Belle Roark, daughter of Henry and Nellie Smith, was born May 10, 1885 in North Loup, Nebraska. She passed away May 8, 1967 at Wilden hospital, Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 29 days.

She was united in marriage to Bert M. Roark on June 30, 1920 and they made their home in Earlham.

Her husband Bert preceded her in death on May 8, 1945.

She is survived by her sister, Leola, and husband Joe Corbly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; by one niece and four nephews.

She was a member of the Earlham Methodist Church, a consistent Christian, and an adult Sunday School class teacher for many years.

Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor. No good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Sometime before her death she had written: “When God calls, I am ready to answer.”

Services for Mrs. Roark were held at the Earlham Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Ward Young conducted the service. Dolores Summy provided music at the organ.

Casket bearers were Wayne Fastle, Frank Wengert, Earl Schalkle, Lyman Oaks, Glenn Stegall and Robert Branam. Interment was in the Penn Center cemetery. Roy Evans was the funeral director.
