Mrs. Sarah Rankin died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. G. N. Skinner, the morning of December 18, 1901, aged 65 years.
She was born in Belmont Co. Ohio, and after her marriage to Samuel Rankin came to Peru, Madison county, Iowa, where they resided thirty years, moving to Winterset four years ago.
She was a member of the Christian church and a noble christian lady. Her funeral services were held at the residence of Dr. Skinner this afternoon. The sermon was preached by her pastor, Rev. Follansbee and her remains were laid beside her husband and son, Willis, in the Winterset cemetery.

Page 5Mrs. Rankin, mother of Mrs. Dr. Skinner died at her home in the west part of the city Tuesday night after a protracted illness. She was nearly seventy years old. The funeral occurred Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Rankin lived in Winterset six or seven years and was a great favorite among her acquaintances here and in Ohio township, where they formerly lived for many years. Her husband who was one of the old settlers of the county died in this city only a year or two ago.

Mrs. Sarah Rankin was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Dec. 15, 1834, and died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Skinner, Dec. 18, 1891.(check this date) She lived at Old Peru for 30 years and four ago came to Winterset. She was the mother of four children, two of whom are living, also six step children. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. today at the home of Dr. Skinner, conducted by Rev. L. E. Follansbee, and she was laid to rest in the Rock City cemetery.

The death of Mrs. Rankin in Winterset was a great shock to her many friends here, but very few knowing she was ill. Mrs. Rankin had resided here for near thirty years, and had hosts of friends.
