William Henry Goodman, 77 year old Winterset resident, died Saturday night, Feb. 18, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Allen, after a short illness with heart trouble. Mr. Goodman's health began to fail less than a year ago. Two months ago he fell and fractured his hip, and he was taken from the hospital to the Allen home last Tuesday. He was recovering satisfactorily when complications developed last Friday causing his death the next day.

Mr. Goodman, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Archillis Goodman was born at Terra Haute, Ind., Nov. 30, 1861. After his father's death he moved with his mother and brothers to Urbana, Ill., in 1864.

He was married to Susan Robbins, April 3, 1883. To this union one daughter was born, Cora Pearl. August 16, 1887 he was again married to Ida May Albright, and they were the parents of four sons and three daughters. His wife and one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Burd, preceded him in death.

Aside from a few years with the Wabash railroad, he spent his active life at farming. He moved from Urbana to Webster City in 1901 and in 1907 he moved to Dows; in 1915 he retired from farming, and for the past fifteen years has resided in Winterset. He joined the Methodist church here.

He is survived by his children: Mrs. Pearl Dillingham of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Iva Wooten of Clarion, Mrs. Flora Allen of Winterset, Jess Goodman of Big Lake, Minn., Ed of Spirit Lake, William and Harry Goodman of Winterset, and 28 grandchildren.

The Rev. J. R. McNichols conducted his funeral services at the Tidrick funeral home Tuesday at 2 o'clock, assisted by the Rev. tom Foglesong, and burial was made in the local cemetery.
