MRS. ELLA GARRETT DIES

Mrs. Ella Jane Garrett, life-long resident of Winterset and Madison county, died Thursday, March 16, at the Winterset hospital. Mrs. Garrett who was 77 years of age, had not been well for some time, but death came unexpected.

Mrs. Garrett was the former Ella Jane Drake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Drake of Webster township, and was born October 22, 1861 the fourth child of a family of seven children. Mrs. Garrett lived in Webster township until she moved to Winterset 35 years ago.

She was married to James C. Garrett, March 4, 1886. to them were born a son Walter S. Garrett of Wharton, Texas, and a daughter Mrs. Ethel B. Bonner of Des Moines.

As a girl she united with the Methodist church of Webster township and she later transferred her membership to the Methodist church of Winterset.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her two children, a brother, E. E. Drake living on the old homestead in Webster township, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The Rev. J. R. McNichols conducted her funeral services which were held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
