DELLA MAE SMITH

Della Mae Wilson, daughter of James and Arta Wilson, was born December 14, 1884, in Polk County, Missouri, and passed away April 17, 1967, at the Redfield hospital at the age of 82 years, four months and three days.

She grew to young womanhood in Missouri, where she married Henry Ira Smith in 1902. They moved to Iowa in 1920, and made their home in this community ever since. To them were born eight children, all of whom survive:

Charley Smith of Rockford, Illinois; Zona Hamilton of El Cajon, California; Edith Algreen of Dexter; Clifford Smith of Des Moines; Fern Butler, Des Moines, with whom she made her home the past seven years; Raymond Smith of Bolivar, Missouri; Ruby Greenwood, Cedar Falls, and Mabel Cronk of Shirrand, Illinois. Also 29 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren, five brothers and sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends mourn her passing.

Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, and one grandson, Lloyd Algreen. Her religious affiliation was with the Southern Baptist church, with which she never severed her alliance. She loved her home and family, and her faith was reflected in her devoted care and concern for them all.

Della Smith, a long time resident of the Earlham community until moving to Des Moines seven years ago to live with a daughter, passed away at the Redfield Hospital on April 17. Services were pronounced by Rev. John Latta at the Evan Funeral Home in Earlham. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.

Casket bearers were Robert Smith, Donald Algreen, Pete Algreen, Clifford Smith, LeRoy Jacobson, Jimmie Jacobson, Terry Smith and Robert Cronk Jr. Music was furnished by Berneita Patience and Robert Lawson.
