John Earnest Hoadley, son of Willard and Elizabeth Hoadley, was born in Madison County, Iowa, September 19, 1892 and passed away suddenly at his home in Earlham, August 7, 1970 at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 12 days.

He was united in marriage to Violet Schalkle February 11, 1920. She passed away March 23, 1941.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Earlham, Iowa. He was a member of Masonic Lodge number 568 at Earlham, a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post 158.

On December 22, 1942 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Stella Taylor.

He lived his entire life in Madison County with the exception of spending some winters in Mesa, Arizona.

He was engaged in farming until he retired over 21 years ago.

His parents, one brother Vernon Clyde, two sisters Anna Gertrude Taylor and Effie May England, have preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Stella, Iliff Hession, of Torrance, California who was raised in their home, five nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Coordinator's note: The deceased has two gravestones, one with each wife. His marriage record, military records, and his Iowa Death Certificate all say his Middle name is "Ernest".
