MRS. WM. REED DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Was Resident of Jackson Township, This County, For Many Years

Mrs. Wm. Reed, for many years a resident of Jackson township in this county, died recently at Fowler, California, where Mr. and Mrs. Reed recently moved to be near their children and in the hope that the genial climate might benefit her health, which had been on the decline for a year or more past. Mrs. Reed was a sister of the late Robt. Niblo of this place, and her death occurred within a day or two of the time of Mrs. Niblo's death at this place. The following obituary notice is from a California paper.

A large family circle of much prominence in this community and those adjoining on the west was broken last Tuesday morning by the hand of death, which took to its home above, the spirit of Mrs. Wm. Reed, the beloved mother who had come to Fowler but recently from an eastern home to live near the larger number of her children who had during the past score of years made their home in the land of sunshine.

Mrs. Reed was born in Ireland on the sixteenth day of October 1831 and was married to Wm. Reed in Rhode Island in 1850. She confessed her faith to Christ as her Savior when twenty two years of age and all throughout her long busy life which was fully occupied by the home duties, made arduous because of a family of six children, her faith never waivered.

Just a few weeks ago, Mrs. Reed and her husband came to Fowler and expected to make this their home. She had been gradually getting weaker and it was hoped the life here would bring her health again but before they could get settled in their own cottage, the summons came.

There are left of the family of the deceased, Wm. Reed, her husband; her sons, T. D. Reed of Easton and W. L. Reed of Fowler and daughters, Mrs. J. W. Kennedy and Mrs. H. G. Houthy of Fowler and Mrs. Sarah Crawford and Angie Dooley of Iowa. Two sisters and a brother also remain to mourn the loss of their sister. All these were present at the funeral with their families, excepting the last two mentioned who were too far away to come.
