DEATH OF J. L. KNOTT

St. Charles Special, Dec. 18:

J. L. Knott, another old and highly respected citizen of St. Charles passed away at his home here early last Tuesday morning at the age of 79 years. He had lived in and near St. Charles since he was three years old, having lived on his farm east of town until two years ago when they moved to their home in St. Charles.

Mr. Knott had been completely paralyzed since June, when he suffered the third stroke of paralysis.

The surviving members of his family are his wife, two sons, and one daughter, Earl of St. Charles, Walter of Clarinda, and Mrs. Millie Thompson of Henning, Minn., and nine granddaughters. A daughter, Della, died in 1902, and a son, Ray, in 1918.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Viela Elston of Woodbine, a playmate of Mr. Knott's childhood days, and a life-long family friend. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

John L. Knott Dies At Age 79

John Lincoln Knott, and aged and well respected citizen of St. Charles, died at his home Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, the age of 79 years.

He was born in Johnson county near Iowa City Sept. 9, 1860. His father enlisted in the Civil war and was killed in action. When three years of age became with his mother to St. Charles, settling on a farm in Jackson township, Warren county. He was married Feb. 24, 1881 to Laura Cashman who survives him.

The surviving relatives are two sons, Walter and Earl of St. Charles and one daughter, Mrs. Millie Thompson of Henning, Minnesota, and his wife of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Thursday afternoon in St. Charles, conducted by Rev. Viela Elston, assisted by Reverends L. L. Smith and John Arnold. Burial was made in the St. Charles Cemetery.
