MRS. THOMAS CLAGUE DIES AT AGE OF 81 YEARS

Mrs. Thomas Clague, well known resident of the Worthington community, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Stanley, Saturday, March 18th, at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Clague, the former Mary E. Ray, daughter of G. B. and Mary Ray was born July 12, 1857, near Berwick, Illinois.

She was married to Thomas Clague on December 28, 1877, and they were the parents of nine children, seven sons and two daughters.

Mrs. Clague moved with her husband and family to her late home in the Worthington community in 1892, where she has since lived with the exception of three years in Winterset with her daughter, Mabel and three years with her daughter Nettie, and son Willis.

Mrs. Clague had joined the Baptist church when a young girl, but when she moved to Worthington she became an active member of the Methodist church.

She leaves four sons, Edgar, Willis, Ralph and Glen Clague of the Worthington community, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Stanley of Earlham, and Mrs. B. F. Hamilton of Attica. She is also survived by a sister, Jennie Smith of Kirkwood, Ill., a brother, Willis Ray of Wichita, Kan., fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her husband and three sons preceded her in death, Charles, Arnold and Everett.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Worthington church by the pastor, the Rev. W. R. Kessler, assisted by the Rev. A. P. Keast of Des Moines. Burial was in the Worthington cemetery.

Mary E. Ray, daughter of G. B. and Mary Ray, was born July 12, 1857 near Berwick, Illinois, and departed this life March 18, 1939 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Stanley, aged 81 years, eight months and six days.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Clague on December 28, 1877. To this union were born nine children, seven sons and two daughters.

She moved with her husband and family to her late home in the Worthington community in 1892 where she has since lived except for three years in Winterset, Iowa with her daughter Mabel, and three years with her daughter Nettie and son Willis.

She was converted in early life and joined the Baptist church of which she was a member until moving to Worthington where she became a member of the Methodist church. In this church she had taken a constant interest until her death.

Her home and her family have been ever in her thought. She followed all the activities of her children and grandchildren with never failing interest. Their spiritual welfare has always been the subject of her prayers.

She leaves to mourn their loss four sons, Edgar, Willis, Ralph and Glen of the Worthington community, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Stanley of Earlham, and Mrs. B. F. Hamilton of Attica, Iowa; one sister, Jennie Smith of Kirkwood, Illinois, and one brother, Willis Ray of Wichita, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Three sons Charles, Arnold, Evert, with her husband preceded her in death. Besides these she leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
