Mrs. Frances Izora DeLong passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jake Hart Saturday, October 8th, 1932, at 1:15 p.m. where she had been cared for the last six weeks.
Frances Izora Foreman, daughter of John and Susanna Foreman was born in Tuscahask county, Ohio, on November 24, 1855. She came to Madison county with her parents when she was two years old and lived here until 1871.
She was united in marriage to Leonard DeLong on December 6, 1871 and they moved to Clarke county, where they resided. Her husband preceded her in death some years ago. Seven children were born to this union, two boys and five girls, namely, Homer of Alberta, Canada, and Roy of Des Moines; Mrs. Carrie Proctor of Truro, Mrs. Sylvia Hart of Osceola, Mrs. Nellie Jenks who passed away November 21, 1929, at the home of her mother, Belle, who died at the age of three and Susan who died in infancy. All of the surviving children were present except Homer who was unable to come on account of distance.
Four brothers preceded her in death, Jake, George, John and Raymond Foreman. One of four sisters survive her, Mrs. Laura Jones of Truro. The other sisters were Susanna, Lucinda and Lydia. Surviving are fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She united with the Church of Christ early in life and had remained a faithful member until death. Mother DeLong maintained her home in Truro and with her daughter, Mrs. Carrie Proctor for the past three years prior to her going to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jake Hart, where she passed so peacefully away.
Funeral services were held at the Webster funeral home on Wednesday, October 12th at 2 p.m. with Rev. F. C. McCallon in charge. Interment was made in Maple Hill cemetery.
