September 1909James F. Irvin, (Dr.) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 22, 1829. His mother died when he was a mere baby and he was reared through boyhood by foster parents. At a very early age he began the practice of medicine at Logansport, Ind., where he met and married Mary Jane Ludlow. No children were born of this union and her death occurred ten years later.
In 1866 he married Mrs. Martha E. Andrew of Laport, Ind. Six children were given them through this union.
In 1868 they removed to Adel, Iowa where he kept up his chosen profession for a number of years and then removed to Earlham, where he remained until the death of his wife which occurred thirteen years ago, when he moved to Des Moines, and has since married Mrs. Louise Ellis of that city. He died Sept. 25, 1909 after a illness of a few days.
He is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters.
His remains were brought to Earlham for burial and services were held Monday afternoon in Friends church, conducted by Rev. J. W. Stribbling. (Burial in the Earlham Cemetery)
