Mrs. Martha Anderson died on last Sunday evening at her home in Atchison, Kansas, and the body was brought here and burial at Stringtown this forenoon. The deceased was an aunt of Ed Chase of this place and of Mrs. Allen Applegate of Cedar Rapids and was one of the early settlers of the Stringtown neighborhood. The husband (Hiram B.) died here in 1869. She was 87 years old on last New Years day and on that day suffered a stroke of paralysis, which hastened her death. (Burial in Stringtown cemetery)
