Emogene Fern Johnson, 85, of Van Meter died March 1, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 4, at the United Methodist Church in Van Meter with Pastor Judith Bunyi officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, DeSoto.
Emogene Johnson was born Nov. 1, 1921, in rural Madison County to William Henry and Emma Maud (Green) Cutshall. On Oct. 29, 1939, she married Roy Neal Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Janice Elaine Johnson; and two sisters, Dorothy May Rogers and Darlene I. Cutshall.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Jean Algoe; one son, William Henry Johnson; and four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Van Meter United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley Funeral Home in Adel.

Emogene Fern Johnson, 85, died Thursday at Methodist Hospital. Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Van Meter. Family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Church. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery near De Soto.
Emogene was born November 1, 1921, in rural Madison County to William Henry and Emma Maud (Green) Cutshall. She married Roy Neal Johnson October 29, 1939 at the United Methodist Church in De Soto. To this union, three children were born.
Emogene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two older sisters, Dorothy May Rogers and Darlene I. Cutshall and daughter Janice Elaine Johnson. She is survived by two of her children, Beverly Jean (Byrle) Algoe and William Henry Johnson, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Emogene was known as a great cook and baker. She worked at many restaurants in Des Moines during her life and Casey's in Van Meter after She retired.
She made many friends, loved being part of the Church, working in her garden, but her family was always the most important thing in her life.
She suffered a large stroke in October of 1998, but refused to give up and improved greatly over time. She then suffered a smaller stroke in December of 2005 that left her paralyzed and abandoned by many in the medical community. She again did not give up and did improve over time.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew her!!!
