FALL PROVES FATAL TO SALLIE DORRELL

Succumbs Saturday After Having Suffered Broken Hip Wednesday

Miss Sallie Dorrell, member of one of Madison county's pioneer families, died at the Winterset hospital last Saturday. She was 87 years of age.

Miss Dorrell had suffered a fractured hip in a fall at her home here on Wednesday of last week. Because of her advanced age, the shock proved fatal.

Miss Dorrell was one of the true pioneers of the county. She was born here on Sept. 21, 1852, the daughter of John and Nancy Dorrell. Her parents were one of the Missouri families that first settled here. She was the last of a family of eight children, and had spent her entire life here.

She spent most of her life caring for others. At the age of 16 years she had joined the Christian Union church, and later affiliated with the Christian church.

Miss Dorrell was the last member of her immediate family, but is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Monday, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Baptist cemetery north of Winterset.
