FATAL CAR CRASH NEAR ST. CHARLES

Mrs. Anna Young Killed As Virgil Young Injured Critically

St. Charles --(Special)--Mrs. Anna Young, 73, of near St. Marys was killed and her son, Virgil Young, 37, of St. Charles was critically injured Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision between their car and a heavily laden milk truck. The accident occured at a corner about five miles southeast of St. Charles.

Mrs. Virgil Young, wife of the injured man, was also a passenger in the car and was severly cut and bruised but her injuries were thought to be less serious. The driver of the truck was Roland Swanson, 21, of Kelley.

Evidence at the scene of the accident indicated that both vehicles had skidded their wheels for many feet. Nevertheless the impact was terriffic, for the car was demolished.

Mr. Young was rushed to the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He suffered a dangerous skull fracture.

Mrs. Young is survived by four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Ora Black, Mrs. Roscoe Hutt and Mrs. Ton Snyder of St. Charles, and Mrs. Glen Reed of New Virginia, and Virgil and Hugh Young of St. Charles and Richard Young of Fairfield.

(Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery)
