The funeral of Will Ackelson who died at his home in Illinois, was held here Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. Machlan. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

John William Ackelson, former Madison county resident, died at his home in Clayton, Ill., Wednesday, Nov. 29th. Mr. Ackelson was 80 years of age, and funeral services were held December first at a funeral home in Clayton. The body was then brought to Peru where the Rev. J. H. Machlan conducted services at the church at 2 o'clock Sunday, December 3rd, and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
Mr. Ackelson was born Sept. 10, 1859 in Petersburg, Ill., the son of Thomas and Ellen Donaldson Ackelson. He came to this county when a youth, and joined the Methodist church at Peru, at the age of 21.
He was married December 30, 1885, at Liberty, Ill., to Hattie Harwood, who with their three sons survive him: Ray of Des Moines, and Elza and Fred of Clayton. A son Walter died in infancy. He also leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a brother George Ackelson of Des Moines.
Six of Mr. Ackelson's nephews served as pallbearers at his funeral in Peru: Emory, Ilot, Leo, Carl and John Ackelson and William Miller.
