James Fuller Trotter (1924)

James F. Trotter was a veteran of the historic Indian Wars.

James Fuller Trotter was born in the state of Wisconsin on April 3, 1858.

In about 1884 or 1885, he was united in marriage to Winnie Rollins. Then, about 2 years after their marriage (1887 or 1888), they came west, and then took their farm eight miles south of Berwyn in rural Custer County, Nebraska which was long their home and residence.

Mr. Trotter died in Berwyn, in Custer County, Nebraska, on May 26, 1924, then aged 66 years, one month, and 23 days of age.

He was a veteran of the Indian Wars. He was a pioneer here also. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Broken Bow, Custer County, Nebraska.

They had eleven children. He is survived by Frank Trotter of Berwyn, NE; Mrs. Mary Juker of Merna, NE; Norval Trotter and Mrs Rose Webb and Gary Trotter, all of Broken Bow, NE; Mrs Bertha Gestwite of Berwyn, NE; and Della Trotter of Broken Bow, NE; and other relatives.

James and Winnie married in 11 Jul 1886 Winterset, Madison Co IA. James was s/o of James A. and Eliza J. (Harrington) Trotter.

James Fuller Trotter died at his home in Berwyn, aged 66 years, 1 month and 23 days. He was born on April 3, 1858 in Wisconsin. He took suddenly ill and a week ago last Friday had an operation and succumbed the following Monday.

He moved to Iowa with his parents. About 40 years ago, he was united in marriage to Miss Winnie Rollins. Two years later, they came to Custer County, Nebraska, and settled on a farm 8 miles south of Berwyn where they have ever since resided.

Eleven children were born them, 4 now are dead. Those who are left are Frank Trotter of Berwyn, Mrs. Mary Juker of Merna, Nora (Norval?) Trotter of Broken Bow, Mrs. Rose Webb of Broken Bow, Gary Trotter of Broken Bow, Mrs. Bertha Gestwite of Berwyn, Della Trotter of Broken Bow.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Methodist E. Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska by Rev. D. T. Morton, pastor. Burial was made in the Broken Bow Cemetery there.
