Mrs. Fletcher Marston, an old resident of Penn township, passed away suddenly at her home in Dexter, Tuesday night, Feb. 6, death being due to heart failure.

Martha M. McClean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Haynes McClean, was born on the old McClean homestead near Biggsville, Ill., September 25, 1852 and died Feb. 6, 1912 at the age of 59 years, 4 months and 12 days.

She spent her youth at the home of her parents and was educated at Biggsville, where also she gave her heart to God and united with the church when 14 years of age.

She was united in marriage Feb. 8, 1871 to Fletcher Marston and soon after moved to the Marston farm in Madison county, where they lived till about 12 years ago when they moved to Dexter.

Their union was blessed by eight children, two, Pearl and Therman, dying when quite young. Those living are: Elwin, Wenatchee, Wash.; Mrs. Letha Carter, Larned Kans.; Edward, Dexter; Arthur Barton, Hopkins, Mo.; Mervin, Regent, N. D. and Mrs. Cora Speer, Dexter. She also leaves three sisters; Mrs. Albert Brouse, Biggsville, Ill.; Mrs. James Baird, Red Oak; Mrs. Daniel Shook, Stronghurst, Ill. and one brother, George McClean, Biggsville, Ill., all of whom attended the funeral which was held from the M. E. church at Dexter, February 12 by her pastor, Rev. Boyers and a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends accompanied the remains to their final resting place in the Dexter cemetery.
