Obituary-John L. Davis

John L. Davis, an old settler, living near Booneville, Iowa, died very suddenly of heart failure. He was born in Essex county, New york on Dec. 2, 1840 and died May 11, 1913 at the age of 72 years, six months and nine days.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Jane Best in 1867. To this union were born six children, two dying in infancy. The four living children are William and John of Booneville, Mrs. Peter Bixler of Waukee and Mrs. John Brayman of Winterset. He also leaves an aged wife, seven grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his sudden death.

Mr. Davis joined the Baptist church early in life and was a firm believer in the Christian faith. A short service was held at the cemetery at Booneville, where interment was made, Rev. D. W. Swender of Van Meter officiating.
