Death of Mrs. Piatt

Mrs. Emaline Piatt died at 10 o'clock this forenoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. M. Griswold at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Piatt had been in frail health for more than a year past and her death was not unexpected.

She came to Penn township, this county from Illinois in 1879. The husband, Jacob Piatt died some thirty years ago.

Funeral services and burial will be at the Penn Center church tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock.

EMELINE NELSON PIATT

Emeline Nelson was born in Knox County, Illinois on March 27, 1839. She was married to Jacob H. Piatt on Feb. 25, 1864. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive her.

In the year 1879 the family located in Penn Township, Madison County, which has been the family home.

The husband Jacob H. Piatt died in March 1889.

Mrs. Piatt was converted in her early girlhood and has lived as a conscientious Christian during all of her life. As a wife and mother, her life has been one of devotion to her loved ones and her aid and sympathy was always extended in full measure to those in need whenever opportunity presented an occasion.

Mrs. Piatt has been in failing health for the past eight years, during the greater part of the time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. D. M. Griswold.

Mrs. Piatt died July 21, 1920, aged 81 years, 4 months and 24 days, leaving surviving as her immediate relatives, two sons, George A. Piatt and Walter J. Piatt, who reside at or near the family homestead and one daughter, Mrs. Lula E. Griswold of Winterset, four grandchildren, two brothers and a wide circle of friends and relatives.

The house service was held at the home of D. M. Griswold, Winterset, and the church service at Penn Center M. E. Church. Rev. B. H. Morse, the Pastor, preached the funeral service from the text found in Corinthians, 15th chapter and 52th verse.

Singing by the Penn Center M. E. Church Quartette, Mr. Earl Linn, Mrs. Carl Bricker, Mrs. Roy Imboden and Mr. Carl Bricker, who sang Rock of Ages, Does Jesus Care, and Jesus Lover of My Soul. Interment was at Penn Center.
