MRS. CLYDE GILLOGLY

Zilpha Carter, daughter of B.F. and Mary A. Carter, was born February 4, 1881, and departed this life on October 14, 1921, having lived 40 years, 8 months and 10 days.

She was married to Clyde Gillogly, January 1, 1902. at the early age of 10 years, she was converted and united with the U. B. church at Blair Chapel. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and aged mother, also one sister, Mrs. Jennie Ewick, of Winterset; two half brothers, Geo. Carter of Des Moines, and J. H. Carter, of Bethel, Kans; two half-sisters, Mrs. Harriet Dixon, of Indianola, and Mrs. Mollie Simpson, of Phillipsburg, Kans. Besides these, she leaves a number of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends. Her father and brother having gone on before.

With the exception of a few months, she spent her life in the vicinity of Patterson. She was always a willing worker in her home, in her church, and in her community, always ready to lend a hand to those in sorrow or need and especially attentive in the care of her aged mother.

Music was her chosen profession and for 20 years she was a successful music teacher. During her last illness, while patient in her suffering, she seemed to feel the end was near, made all her plans and was ready to go when the summons came. During the last moments of her life, she offered a beautiful prayer, giving to those left to mourn for her, the comforting assurance that she has gone to be with her Redeemer.

Funeral services were held in Blair Chapel Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. F. Cronk, of Des Moines, burial taking place in the adjacent cemetery.
