OBITUARIES – Kittie D. Pitzer

Kittie D. Pitzer was born December 2, 1867 and died October 24, 1922. About a year and a half ago her health began to fail, all that could be done by medical attention and careful nursing was unavailing. She had no fear of death, and often called upon her dear Saviour to help her bare it saying, “I can’t understand, but it’s all right, but it’s all right.”

She had been a devoted member of the church since childhood. Her great concern was for the welfare of her loved ones and her greatest regret was in leaving her aged mother, wishing they might go together. Through the days and months of suffering she was thankful to any who tried to make it easier for her.

For many years she was a teacher in the public schools, instructing the youth in knowledge and righteousness. None new who but to love her. In after years she became a seamstress, her fingers were quick at needlework and her feet ran Swift to do good.

Her brother, N. D. Pitzer, of Chugwater, Wyoming, assisted in the care of her for four months last winter and the past few weeks she was comforted by the presence of a sister, Mrs. Emma Gundy of Mankato, Kansas.

Those left to mourn her loss in the home, are the aged mother, who is quite feeble at this time, and her sister, Florence, who is so devoted to Kittie during the sickness. Aside from these are two brothers and one sister who could not be present and numerous relatives. Poem follows…

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. D. J. Shenton. Interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
