Glen Wood Ballard, son of Samuel T. and Martha Ballard was born near Macksburg, Iowa, May 7, 1879, and after an extended illness departed this life at the Winterset hospital on August 14, 1939, at the age of 60 years, three months and seven days.

With the exception of a few years he spent his entire life in Madison county.

When a young man he united with the Methodist church and was ready and willing to obey God's summons.

On November 19, 1903, he was united in marriage to Sadie Anna Leutzinger. To this union was born one daughter, Opal Genevieve, now Mrs. Amel Slaybough of Arispe.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one daughter, one brother, Ransom Ballard of Macksburg, one nephew, Lyle Whitworth of Macksburg, one niece, Mrs. Georgie Clark of Spaulding and other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at the Macksburg Methodist church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. M. D. Summerbell. Interment was made in the Moon cemetery.
