Former Resident of Penn Township Died in Dexter Last Sunday
Harry L. Leeper, son of George and Elizabeth Leeper was born in Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 18, 1873 and passed away at his home in Dexter, Dec. 29, 1938, at the age of 65 years, and 11 days. Most of his life was spent on the farm. The one north of town and the other southeast of Earlham. In 1927 he moved to Dexter. On March 16, 1904 he was united in marriage with Nettie Stanford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Stanford. To this union was born one daughter, Elizabeth Leeper of Des Moines. On May 7, 1923 he was bereft of his companion.
Forty-five years ago, when a young man, he was converted in a revival meeting, held at Penn Center. He served on the official board of the church. He also served on the town council after he moved to Dexter.
In 1928 he was united in marriage with Ethel Martin.
He leave one daughter, the following brothers and sisters,---Leeper of Dexter, Fred of Chicago, Essie Moore and Eldora Knight of Dexter, Ray S. Leeper of Modesta, Cal., and Reba Maulsby of Chicago.
Funeral services were held from the M. E. church last Sunday at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. H. Freedline. Interment was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
