Page 2A. C. SCHUTZ, 81, DIES AT MACKSBURG
Alvin C. (Bob) Schutz, a prominent pioneer resident of Grand River township, died Tuesday morning at his home in Macksburg. He was 81 years of age.
Mr. Schutz was born on the family farmstead southwest of Macksburg on June 24, 1872, and spent nearly all his life in Grand River township. He was the son of Andrew and Barbara Hatter Schutz who settled near Macksburg in 1866.
Mr. Schutz attended a rural school in Grand River township and later the Macksburg high school. He assisted with the operation of the home farm until 1893, when he moved to a farm in Nebraska.
In a few years he returned to Madison county and in 1902 married Mabel Hart.
He was a member of the Macksburg Methodist church and the Odd Fellows lodge.
He is survived by his wife and three sons, Doyle of Macksburg, Warren of Van Meter and Andrew of Colorado. A twin brother, C. C. Schutz preceded him in death.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Schutz were not complete when the Madisonian went to press.

Funeral services for Alvin C. Schutz, 81, were held last Friday afternoon from the Macksburg Methodist church.
Officiating at the services was the Rev. Rowe. Burial was in the Moon cemetery near Macksburg.
Mr. Schutz was a life-long resident of Grand River township.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Doyle of Macksburg, Warren of Van Meter and Andrew of Pueblo, Colo; a sister, Mrs. Alice Eivins of Macksburg; and two brothers, Elmer of Lincoln, Nebr., and Fred of Macksburg.
