Felix Landers Dies Suddenly

Felix Landers, one of the oldest settlers in the vicinity of Patterson, died very suddenly on last Friday evening. While his general health had not been good for some time, he retired Friday evening enjoying his usual health. About 11 o'clock, Mrs. Landers was awakened by his loud and difficult breathing and summoned W. W. Pace, who has been boarding at the Landers home during the absence of his wife on a visit. He expired almost instantly, having been stricken with apoplexy.

Mr. Landers settled near Patterson before the war, and enlisted in Company F. 39th Iowa infantry. In March 1866, he married Miss Mary Lyons, who with two sons, Sherman and John, who reside in Des Moines survive him.

Funeral services were held today at Union Chapel, the I.O.O.F. order of Patterson and Pitzer Post G.A.R. of Winterset officiating.
