Wednesday, February 22, 1939CYRUS ALLEN DIES OF HEART AILMENT
St. Charles (Special), Feb. 21, 1939
Cyrus Allen, living a mile northeast of St. Charles, dropped dead in his yard Wednesday morning. He had been in poor health and unable to work for some time, but had been in town the evening before and apparently was as well as usual.
He was 64 years old and is survived by his wife, one half brother, two half sisters, and many nephews and nieces.
His funeral was conducted from the Methodist church Friday afternoon by Rev. Shephard of the Christian church and burial was made in the King cemetery near Elm Grove church.
The following relatives and friends came to attend the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Agard, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Allen, Miss Gladys Allen, Mrs. Alice Allen, and Mrs. Grace Allen of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Allen and the Misses Hutchcroft of Indianola; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stewart, Chas. Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Wickett of New Virginia; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Shalley of Osceola; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Perry, Mr. and Mrs. George Kirk of Peru; Lee Allen and family of Truro; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Allen of Winterset; Mrs. and Mrs. Lawrence Osborne, and Mines Allen of St. Charles; and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kingery of Macksburg.
