MRS. EARL HOLMES OF TRURO IS DEAD

Had Been Correspondent for Madisonian Many Years in That Community

Truro--(Special)--March 20--

Mrs. Earl Holmes, well known Truro resident, died at her home Friday after a brief illness with influenza. Mrs. Holmes who was 55 years of age, had lived in and near Truro most of her life and had been a correspondent for the Winterset Madisonian for a number of years.

Florence Rachel Franks, daughter of G. W. and Lucy Hartman Franks, was born near Truro, June 18, 1883. When a small child she moved with her parents to Nebraska, returning to Iowa in 1893. In 1897 she returned to Truro, and was a resident here until her death. Her marriage to Earl Holmes was solemnized January 15, 1902 and they were the parents of six children.

In addition to her husband she leaves their five children: Harold Earl of Des Moines, Nola Atkinson, Marjorie Creger of Truro, Dorothy Belle and Patty Lou at home. A daughter Ruth Marie died in infancy. She also leaves two grandchildren, Rosemary Creger and J. Dean Atkinson of Truro, a brother, J. E. Franks of St. Charles and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Weibly and Mrs. G. B. Wright of Atlantic and Mrs. W. A. Hygelund of Alhambra, Cal.

Funeral services were held at Kale's funeral home Sunday afternoon, March 19, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Marguerite E. Shepard, assisted by the Rev. Clayton P. Shepard pastors of the Truro Christian church of which she was a member. Interment was in the Hartman cemetery.
