MISSING NINE DAYS HUNTER FOUND DEAD

Ed Weeks Found Hanging in Fence, Victim of Gun Accident

Missing for nine days, Edgar D. Weeks of Monroe township, a World war veteran, was found dead Tuesday of accidental gunshot wounds.

Weeks had gone hunting on Nov. 19, and in climbing through a fence the .410 caliber sawed-off pistol he carried had discharged, killing him instantly. The fence was located on the farm of a neighbor, Dan Silverthorn. The body was found by the victim's brother and brother-in-law, Clyde Weeks and Lawrence Pinckney.

Weeks was 68 years of age, and was a World war veteran, having served as a first sergeant in a remount detachment. He was a bachelor, and ordinarily lived alone on his farm. However, Clyde Weeks, a brother, had been living with him recently.

Clyde Weeks said that it had been the custom of his brother to go for extended visits with his relatives without saying anything about it, so he thought little of it when Edgar left on Nov. 19. However, after he had been gone a week, Clyde began to inquire of relatives as to his brother's whereabouts, and unable to locate him, a search was started.

Sheriff A. E. Null and County Coroner J. F. Veltman were notified and made an investigation. Veltman termed the death undoubtedly accidental.
