Myrtle Vinetta Beem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Beem, was born June 17, 1884 in Adams county, Iowa. She passed away Feb. 22, 1939 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fern Pitcher in Mullen, Neb., at the age of 54 years, 8 months and 5 days.
She was united in marriage to Jesse F. Furrow on Feb. 27, 1907 at Pitzer, Iowa. To them two children were born: Fern Marie Pitcher of Mullen and Laura Vinetta Mathews of Whitman, Neb.
Her girlhood was spent in and around Winterset. After her marriage she went to Nebraska with her husband, and they took up a homestead 15 miles southwest of Mullen, where they lived until they moved to Mullen two years ago. She had been in ill health the past years, and was taken to the hospital at Alliance, Dec. 18, 1938, where she remained five weeks, after which she was taken to Mullen, where she remained bedfast until her death. Mrs. Furrow was a member of the Methodist church.
She is survived by her husband and their daughters, three grandchildren, Troy Wayne, Robert Eugene and Janet Marie and four sisters: Lula Estel, Stella Craven, Susie Beem and Amanda Allen, and one brother, Clarence Beem, all of Winterset. Three other sisters, and her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church in Mullen, the Rev. Runnels the pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Rackenzie of the Episcopal church. Burial was made in the Mullen cemetery.
