Death of Mrs. A. C. Craig

Mrs. A. C. Craig of Madison township died Wednesday, May 28th after a long illness, aged seventy one years and nineteen days. Mrs. Craig was born in New York. The family moved to Indiana after a few years, where they remained until 1868, when the moved to Jefferson, where they lived until a few years ago, at that time moving to Madison county.

She leaves besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Loomis of Des Moines and a step son in the east. The funeral services conducted by Rev. J. H. Stewart were held at the home Friday at 10 a.m. and burial in the Winterset cemetery.

Alvira Morse was born in Orleans county, New York, May 9th, 1842, and died May 28th, 1913, age 71 years and 19 days.

When three years old she moved with her parents to Whitney county, Indiana, and in 1868 came with her parents to Jefferson county, Iowa.

On the 30th day of January 1873, she was married to A. C. Craig. To this union were born two children, a son, Charles, who died at the age of two and one-half years, and a daughter, now Mrs. L. H. Loomis of Des Moines. She became a Christian at an early age and after coming to Iowa she joined the Baptist Church and has followed conscientiously in this faith ever since.

There are left to mourn her, a husband, a daughter and a step-son, John, of Battleboro, Vermont.

The funeral services were held on Decoration Day, conducted by the Rev. J. H. Stewart.
