Lois Knox Chamberlain was born near Earlham, Iowa on December 24, 1888, and departed this life at her home in the Worthington community October 5, 1969 at the age of 80 years. She was the second child of Joseph H. and Susan Taylor Knox. Her home was always located in northwest Madison county. She graduated from the Earlham academy in 1907 and taught in the rural schools 5 years.
On August 6, 1912 Lois was united in marriage to Clyde C. Chamberlain and they established their home in the Worthington community. To this union was born three daughters: Florence, Olive and Myrtle.
She was a member of the Worthington United Methodist church where she served faithfully in all areas with missions her deepest concern.
Preceding her in death are her husband, her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Surviving are her daughters: Mrs. Florence Liss of Mesa, Arizona; Olive Ralston, and her husband Russell of Earlham; Myrtle Allen and her husband Kenneth of Earlham; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, and 4 sisters, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends.
