Death of Harold Bennett

Rev. E. E. Bennett and family were in town Monday on a sad mission-the burial of their youngest son, Harold, aged 17, who died in the state hospital for insane at Clarinda on last Friday. According to the story related by the boy's parents, he was injured about a month ago, by stones hurled at him by other boys while riding home on his bicycle. Soon after reaching home, he became violently ill, his mind was deranged and on advice of physicians, he was sent to Clarinda for treatment.

Reports in the Des Moines papers state that when the body reached Des Moines, the coroner took charge and by his order, an autopsy was performed by the city physicians and that no injuries were found. Dr. F. A. Ely, who was called when the boy took ill, also states that his examination failed to reveal any injuries. Whatever the status of the case, the boy's untimely death, calls for the deepest sympathy for the bereaved family.

Before moving to Des Moines, Mr. Bennett was pastor of the Christian church here for many years. Funeral services were held from that church on Monday and burial made in the Winterset cemetery.
