Earlham, IowaHUGH RAMSEY
Hugh Ramsey, son of Homer and Grace Benson Ramsey, was born on February 2, 1906, near Earlham, and passed away on January 3, 1960.
He attended the Earlham school, graduating from the high school here.
On August 24, 1927, he was united in marriage with Clarice Myers, and their home was blessed with two children, Mary Ann and Glen.
All his adult life was spent in farming in Madison and Dallas counties. He loved the land and considered it a privilege to be a good steward of the soil.
In 1939 he, with the other three members of his family, became members of the Earlham Friends church, where he served faithfully in many capacities. He was a kind husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Mary Ann Harms, his son Glen, and his son-in-law, Dean Harms. He leaves also his mother Grace Ramsey, two sisters, Mrs. Lora Bond and Mrs. Esther Fogg, one brother, William Ramsey, all of California, and other relative and friends.

Thursday, January 7, 1960Services Held For Hugh Ramsey
The community was shocked and saddened Sunday evening upon earning of the sudden death of Hugh W. Ramsey, well known South Dallas county farmer.
Mr. Ramsey had gone to the Bernau farm several miles east of his farm to look after some hogs he had there. When he stayed longer than seemed necessary, neighbors investigated and found his body. It was thought that he had been dead from a heart attack for a half hour when he was found about 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Ramsey would have been 51 years old in February. His immediate family surviving him are his wife, a daughter Mrs. Mary Ann Harms of Des Moines and a son, Glen, a student at Missouri State Teachers College at Maryville, Missouri.
Services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Earlham Friends church. Rev. L. Willard Reynolds was in charge.
Organist was Doris Cook. Casket bearers were Beryl Kenworthy, Stanley Williamson, Gale Marston, Ralph Godwin, Graham W. Godby and Ronnie Branam.
Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
