Wednesday, August 2, 1916Joshua Hadley, son of Edward and Elizabeth (Curl) Hadley was born in Morgan county Indiana, August 23, 1851; he departed this life on the morning of July 27 at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 4 days.
In 1862 he moved with his parents to Dallas Co., Iowa. He was married to Spica A. Barnett Dec. 1, 1872. To this union seven children were born, two of whom died in infancy. Those living are, Chas. E. of Redfield, Mrs. Cora S. Foster of Des Moines, Burton B. of Council Bluffs, Raymond E. of Des Moines and Mrs. Golda M. Gibson of Larimar. Besides these the deceased leaves the wife, two brothers, Jesse S. of Earlham, Elias of Washington state and one sister Mrs. Sabina Potter of Earlham and eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Soon after his marriage, he and his wife moved to Nebraska where they remained about three years and then moved again to Bear Creek. After a few years they moved to Lyon County, Iowa residing there about 10 years.
They moved to Des Moines in 1891 which has since been their home.
