Johnson Moore was born in Washington county, Pa., June 6, 1830 and died in Winterset, March 16, 1911, aged 80 years, 9 months and 10 days. He was married in 1860. To this union four children were born, two of whom died some years ago. The other two left are Margaret, now living in Wisconsin and Lulu living at home, together with several grandchildren, remain to mourn his death.

Came west in 1870 and located on a farm near Peru, Iowa, living there until about a year ago when he moved to Winterset. For several years he has been sickly and made a hard effort to live, but he had to surrender to the mandate of death, passing away peacefully on Thursday evening at 6:30.

Years ago as a young man, he united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church and though he never united with any church in Iowa, he was always a believer in the Lord and his church. The writer called on him several times during his recent illness and found him strong in the faith and thus he died in the hope of eternal life and now we lay away his body in the hope of the resurrection.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. A. Wallburn in the Peru M. E. church March 18th and burial in the Peru cemetery.
