Funeral Services Held on Sunday at Peru, With Burial there
James Ernest Ergenbright, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Friday, Jan. 1, at his place of residence in Winterset. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Ergenbright was born in this county on Nov. 27, 1882, a son of John and Mary Dudney Ergenbright. Much of his life was spent working as a farm hand in the Peru area. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Peru.
Mr. Ergenbright never married. His nearest surviving relatives are a half brother Byrma Ergenbright of Shannon City, two nephews, Marvin Mayer of Des Moines and Harry Mayer of Mason City; and a cousin, Mrs. Opal Gorr of Lorimor.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Peru Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Dale Lockhart. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery, with graveside services by the Peru Masonic lodge.
