SETH W. McCLEEARY RITES AT ST. CHARLES

Died at Home There March 9 at Advanced Age of 80 Years

Seth W. McCleeary, whose death at his home here March 9 was reported in last week's Madisonian, was a native of near Van Meter. He was born there Nov. 17, 1868, the son of Charles and Mary Yost McCleeary, and was 80 years old at his death.

He was married Dec. 18, 1889, to Lenora Smeltzer. They were the parents of six children. The wife and mother died in 1909, and the eldest son, Horace in 1925.

His early life was spent in farming. Later he did general trucking, until his health failed. For the last 10 years he had been a partial invalid, and he had been seriously ill since March 2.

Mr. McCleeary was married March 6, 1918, to Lou A. Nicoson who survives him. He also leaves five children, Ralph McCleeary of Santa Ana, Calif., Everett McCleeary of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Dale Lape of Pacific Beach, Calif., Mrs. Hazel Wigton of Grimes, and Mrs. Grace Conley of Alberquerque, N. Mex.; two brothers, C. C. McCleeary and Will McCleeary, both of St. Charles; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on March 12 from the St. Charles Church of Christ, with the Rev. Warren Hile officiating. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
