MRS. MAUDE BLOSSER FORMER RESIDENT, DIES

Funeral Services Held in Des Moines on Tuesday Afternoon

Mrs. Maude Blosser, well known Winterset and Madison county resident, died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines Saturday, July 23 after an illness of several months. Mrs. Blosser, who was 66 years of age, had lived in Des Moines the past 20 years, and was serving as manager of the Hoyt Sherman women's club rooms when she became ill in January. She underwent surgery at that time, and was taken to the home of her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Blosser where she was cared for until she returned to the hospital the latter part of May.

A daughter of William and Anna Simpson, she was born in Cass county, Iowa, Feb. 18, 1883, but the family came to Winterset soon after. She was married to William Blosser in 1902 and they lived in or near Patterson until his death in 1917. Following that she and her son moved to Winterset and resided here until he finished high school, when she went to Indianola to serve as house mother at a sorority house. Five years later she moved to Des Moines where she served as matron at a Business Women's home, then the Methodist nursing home, and the Y. W. C. A.

She was a member of the First Methodist church in Des Moines and her minister conducted her services at Dunn's funeral home Tuesday, July 16th at 1:30 p.m. after which burial services were held at the Montpelier cemetery near Patterson.

She is survived by her son and his wife, and their two children, Jane Ann and Bobby of Des Moines; she also leaves a niece, Naomi Simpson Stark, of Scott township, whom she raised; and three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Frank Mahan of Winterset, Mrs. Fred Huglin of St. Charles, and Mrs. Bernice Leach and Pearl Simpson of Des Moines.
