Ace B. Compton, son of Stephen and Laura Compton, was born near Earlham February 5, 1881 and departed this life on June 11, 1971. He had been in failing health for the past seven years.
He was married on January 13, 1903 to Florence Haxton of Earlham. He is survived by his wife, Florence – this being their 69th year of marriage. Also he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Rosenberger of Indianola, a son, Charles of Littleton, Colorado and by one sister, Mrs. Ethel Linn of Guthrie Center.
There are five grandchildren, Stephen Rosenberger of Lucas, David Rosenberger of Indianola, Perry Rosenberger of Des Moines, Mrs. Ruth Ferguson of Loveland, Colorado and Demeris Compton of Littleton, Colorado. There are also eleven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Ace was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. Dana Overhulser and one brother Fred Compton. He spent all of his life in Iowa, except for two years in Colorado following his marriage. Most of the last 60 years was spent in Guthrie county, where he was a livestock buyer and grain dealer.
