Member of Pioneer Family in County Dies at 82 Years
Mrs. Flora Belle Shell, a long-time resident of the Macksburg community, died there Thursday, Nov. 17 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jay Steele. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Shell was a native of Vermont, where she was born Sept. 4, 1867. She was a daughter of Robert and Sophia Herren, pioneer settlers in this county. When she was a small child, she came with her parents to Winterset. They later moved to a farm southwest of Macksburg, where her early life was spent.
She was married Aug. 31, 1892, to Frank Shell. They were the parents of one child.
In addition to the daughter, Mrs. Steele, she leaves three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Macksburg Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. B. F. Hamilton. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
